Prescott Hill Climb

Circuit Prescott
Date Saturday 29 May 2010

Circuit Description

Speed hill climbing is among the most spectacular of all motor sports. The format is simple, man and machine against the clock. From standing start to flying finish, over Prescott's tough and demanding 1,127 yard course, a suitable challenge for the top drivers which is sometimes mastered but never beaten.

It's all about speed, power, handling and precision. The top drivers compete in specially constructed single-seaters with ex-Grand Prix V8 engines which give some 6OObhp. They look like Grand Prix cars and go like Grand Prix cars. In fact they can accelerate quicker away from Prescott's starting line than the Formula 1 superstars do off the grid!

At most Prescott meetings especially our British and Midland Championship rounds you will find upwards of 200 drivers in a wide variety of cars, from road-going saloons to the big racers. There are racing cars with all types of engines, sports cars and classic cars. Whatever you are interested in, you will probably find it at Prescott.

The format is simple. Cars run in classes, and each car gets two competitive runs.

It is fast, competitive, and always close, with results decided by scant hundredths of a second.

The fastest twelve at the end of each set of runs get an extra climb for Championship points. So the pressure is on all the time.

Set in a niche in the Cotswold hills, Prescott has superb viewing for all spectators, so you can get close enough to watch the drivers in action. At lunch time you can picnic in our orchard car park and then stroll round the paddock and have a good look at the cars at close quarters.

Our extensive facilities make Prescott one of the finest Speed Hillclimb venues in the country.
